HealthHero brings together human expertise and digital convenience to deliver digital-first, integrated care that is revolutionising the healthcare industry.
And we’re not just revolutionising it for patients, either. We’re also focused on making practice more perfect for GPs and clinicians – from working to solve capacity challenges with smart triage technology, minimise the administrative burden and provide exciting new career opportunities for all our clinicians.
We’re growing rapidly, and we’re looking for GPs to join us working remotely across the UK and overseas to make practice perfect and deliver the future of healthcare.
Our GPs experience a better way to work. They enjoy choice, balance, flexibility, and most importantly, they’re able to make the most of their time with patients - without the paperwork, bureaucracy or stress. And the result? An increased sense of professional fulfilment and purpose.
We appreciate that before applying you may have some questions that will help you understand if this opportunity is right for you. That's why we welcome the chance to have an informal conversation to help you make an informed decision. Either arrange to have an informal chat by clicking on the link below, or email clinical.recruitment@healthhero.com and one of the team will arrange to call you back at a time that's convenient.
We have built a reputation for providing trusted, expert and guaranteed clinical service quality and we are the leading provider of remote GP advice services in Europe.
Our services are accessible by over eight million patients across the UK and Ireland who benefit from direct, remote primary care and expert clinicians – our two services are rated Outstanding and Good by the CQC.
Not only can you choose when you work with us, you can also choose how.
Provide private non urgent consultations to patients who have access to our service through insured products such as private medical healthcare or through their employee benefits. Provide advice, referrals and prescriptions to our patients where appropriate and help them access the healthcare they need faster.
Provide remote urgent primary care clinical consultations for patients referred through NHS 111, or directly by Healthcare Professionals working within the NHS. As part of the multi-disciplinary Clinical Assessment Team, clinical delivery is facilitated by our 24/7 non-clinical support team as well as seamless NHS IT integration including full access to in-hours primary care records and Electronic Prescribing functionality.
Provide vital support to NHS GP practices as a self-employed sessional or salaried Practice Support GP. The NHS telephone, video or written consultations you deliver remotely to primary care patients across the UK won’t go beyond 20 per session. Enjoy a reduced administration burden and the variety of working for different practices.
Beyond consultation delivery we have plenty of other opportunities for you to help us build the future of healthcare:
Get involved in mentoring and helping improve
our services
Input into our focus groups to make the way we provide primary healthcare better
Shape our technology and make it perfect for a world of digital healthcare
Help us develop the next generation of remote
clinical services
We look for highly motivated GPs who are passionate about putting the patient first and who:
Have at least a year's experience of working in the UK as a GP
Have at least 6 months post CCT experience in the UK and are looking to join our Fellowship Program
Will listen to patients to make them feel cared for, understood and valued
Are actively engaged in professional and personal development
Can make consistent clinical decisions that meet the needs of the patient using recognised best practice guidelines

As a Practice Support GP you’ll work from home without any of the normal surgery interruptions and with full support from our Operational and Clinical teams. Your expertise will support surgeries with in-hours and (if you would like) extended-hours primary care, allowing patients to receive the time they need with a GP and ensuring you can focus on diagnosis and treatment, rather than admin.
You have the choice of joining us as either a sessional or salaried GP. Sessional GPs need to be available for a minimum of two four-hour sessions a week. Earn £90 per hour in-hours for up to five consultations per hour. Extended access hours (weekday evenings and Saturday morning) is also an option and you can earn £103 per hour. As a salaried GP, your earnings could be up to £120,000 for full-time (40 hours) or pro-rata for 2/3 days or equivalent to 6-8 sessions per week. You have the choice to work full-time or part-time
It depends on the role you are interested in but mostly we ask for a min commitment of 2 x 4/5hr shifts per week
For our private contracts and our practice support contracts, we prefer you to commit to regular sessions on a weekly basis although we are flexible and you can change session commitments and also pick up additional sessions at the last minute. If you are working with us in Urgent Care, you can dial your hours up or down to suit your existing lifestyle or practice commitments, week by week and month by month.
You can choose to work with us in or out of hours, or for either the private or NHS parts of our service or better still, a combination of both. Choosing to work across both on a shift-by-shift basis gives you variety, balance and valuable experience beyond your main day-to-day work.
You can work with us on a self-employed or employed basis depending on what type of work you do with us– it’s your choice. We can discuss which is better for you as part of the application process.
If you are working with us providing services to our UK based private clients then yes you can. So long as you maintain your GMC registration and continue to be on the Performers List then you are able to work for us whilst being based remotely from many destinations around the world and from the UK when you return again. If you advise us of which country/s you wish to work from we will be able to confirm for you.
We offer lots of opportunity to work OOH and to receive very competitive rates of pay. Most of our online healthcare services are 24/7 and we offer evening, weekend, bank holiday and overnight shifts on a regular basis from the UK, ROI and overseas.
We provide you with a laptop that enables you to do both video and telephone consultations and comes fully loaded with everything you need.
You’ll start with a comprehensive induction to help you feel comfortable in your role, and we’ll carry out a remote home working assessment to make sure you are set up properly.
You’ll also get a mentor to help you settle in and full training and support on our systems, ensuring you can give patients the best possible experience.
